“S.M.” Monogrammed WWI Trench Art Shell – 1917

Handcrafted from a French 75mm artillery shell casing manufactured in 1917, this stunning piece of trench art features a crowned rim, a central chalice marked “14–18,” and raised oak leaves branching outward—a powerful symbol of endurance, strength, and remembrance. Below the chalice, the initials “S.M.” are boldly inscribed, making this a rare monogrammed piece of World War I history.

Each trench art shell was individually crafted by soldiers using what little they had available—often with rudimentary tools and under unimaginable conditions. No two are exactly alike.
